IoT has empowered “things” like wearables, cars, to “services” such as
transportation, healthcare, etc. However, the questions are: have the
current IoT solutions satisfied every aspect of our needs? What would be
the future of the IoT application development?

In this presentation, Yuan Wang will construct a Need-Capability-Matrix,
with Abraham Maslow’s 8-level hierarchy of human needs and Michael
Porter’s 4 capabilities of smart connected things. She will review a
broad range of existing IoT solutions and map them into the
Need-Capability-Matrix. As a result, she will summarize the current
status of the existing IoT solutions, identify a series of market gaps
for the IoT applications, and propose the next step of the IoT
technologies.
